You are on the rating appeal help page for:
The property has been changed - it is now occupied differently
This type of issue can often be resolved by contacting your local valuation office. You will need to find your property first, if you haven′t already done so.
You can appeal if you think your property needs to be split or merged.
- A split is when one property is divided into two or more separate properties. Each separate unit will be assessed for its rateable value.
- A merge is when two or more properties are combined to form one or more different properties. The enlarged or different properties will each be assessed for their rateable value.
You will need to provide details and the date the changes were made to the property. We may want to visit to confirm the new configuration.
If there has been no change in the way the overall property is occupied – even if part of it is now empty – then we will not change its rateable value or the way it is listed.
