This type of issue can often be resolved by contacting your local valuation office. You will need to find your property first, if you haven′t already done so.

If you change the use of your property from business/non-domestic to domestic then you should let us know. We may be able to alter it from a business rates to a council tax assessment without you needing to appeal.

You can appeal if you think your property is no longer a business or non-domestic property. You will need to provide reasons why you think this is the case, and the date the use changed.

If we agree that the property is now wholly domestic then we will assess its council tax band and notify your local council of the change of use.

If the property is used for both business and domestic use then we will assess it as a composite. We will assess it for both business rates and council tax.
